UN’s Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

About the project: The project initiated by the Rio Conventions Pavilion and executed by RTCC (Responding To Climate Change) on the occasion of the 11th meeting of the Conference of Parties to the Convention of Biological Diversity.

The task was to engage in dialogues with national delegations from various parts of the world to understand the adverse impact, mitigation and adaptation strategies related to climate change better. Accordingly, Alok Gupta (in the capacity of climate change expert) was involved to engage in formal dialogues with official representations from countries, development bank and global NGOs. The ranks included heads of state, minister of environment, UN officials, heads of global NGOs and so on.

About the client: RTCC is a not-for-profit organization and it is an official Observer to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention for Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). It holds “Special Advisory Status” with The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as well as officially supporting UNFCCC in its outreach programme. RTCC’s expertise lies in facilitating public sector private sector partnerships having a working knowledge of current events in the climate change debate as well as independent analysis of the current state of the negotiations. In 2012, RTCC entered into a major partnership with the United Nations Rio Conventions.

The Rio Conventions Pavilion (RCP) is a platform for raising awareness and sharing information about the latest practices and scientific findings linking biodiversity, climate change, and sustainable land management.
